Outnorth - implemented S/4 when grouping with Fjellsport

Challenge

When joining forces, Outnorth had an old, unsupported version of Navision as its ERP system. It was high time to move on to something new, and with an online store in rapid growth, there was a need for a solution that could cope with the volume. At the same time, Outnorth was moving to a new warehouse and needed system support to operate the new warehouse efficiently. As such, they only had a short time to put in place a new ERP solution with integration to their new AutoStore solution.

Solution

Outnorth's new partner Fjellsport had, a couple of years earlier, as the first in the Nordic region, implemented SAP S/4HANA with embedded EWM connected to AutoStore, operated on Amazon Web Services' cloud platform. The user interface was based on the SAP Fiori Launchpad. Fjellsport's excellent experience with both the solution and Pearl as a migration partner, as well as a desire to have the same ERP system across the group, made it easy for Outnorth to choose the same solution.

Customer's benefits

Because Fjellsport had already migrated to S/4HANA, much of the road had already been trodden for Outnorth. At Pearl, we have extensive industry knowledge in e-commerce and logistics, and in collaboration with our customers, we develop reusable template solutions for S/4HANA adapted to the various industries' needs. Since there were many similarities between Fjellsport and Outnorth in business type and operation, large parts of the puzzle were already laid for Outnorth's migration.

"We have a huge advantage in that Pearl knows Fjellsport 100%. They have had a long-term customer relationship, and Fjellsport is very satisfied. We save a lot on being able to implement Fjellsport's solution 1:1 and then, when needed, develop it further on," says CEO of Outnorth, Harald Ennen.

Reduced risk

For Outnorth, a lot has been about risk minimization. In addition to having an old and unsupported ERP, with all the risk that entails, it has also chosen to both invest in robot storage solutions and move the entire warehouse simultaneously.

In other words, the company was dependent on the implementation of the new ERP system going as smoothly as possible, with more than enough other risk factors on top.

– The people in Pearl are professional and know what they are doing, so it has, so far, gone very well, says Ennen.

Greater security

After running on an old and unsupported ERP system, there is a great deal of safety for Outnorth in switching to the giant that is SAP, with the stability and predictability it entails. The company can also be confident that S/4HANA provides the flexibility and scalability they need in a rapidly growing company. In addition, the solution is delivered on Amazone Web Services´cloud platform which ensures a more flexible and stable operation.

Not least, Ennen sees security in continuing with Pearl as a partner through PearlCare, to ensure stable operations as well as innovation and further development of the business systems.

"Pearl has so far proven to be a steady partner, and it is always an advantage to have someone who has been involved in the implementation process and who knows the company. We can definitely see Pearl as a solid partner in the future as well," says the CEO.
