Rimi Baltic, a major retail operator with 275 stores across Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania, partnered with Pearl Group to launch a comprehensive e-commerce solution.

As a subsidiary of Swedish ICA Group, Rimi needed to provide customers with seamless shopping experiences across all channels - online, in-store, and drive-through. Pearl Group implemented SAP Commerce with integrated home delivery, click & collect, and drive-in services. The solution launched in October 2019 and quickly became Latvia's second-largest e-commerce platform, expanding to Lithuania and Estonia ahead of schedule during COVID-19 to support society during lockdowns.

Challenge

Rimi Baltic wanted to create a unified customer experience across all shopping channels. Their goal was to ensure customers could enjoy the same campaigns and access to fresh produce whether shopping online, in-store, or using drive-through services.

The company also needed to be able to roll out this consistent experience across all regions in the Baltic States, requiring a scalable solution that could maintain quality and functionality across Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.

Solution

Pearl Group delivered a comprehensive groceries e-commerce solution featuring home delivery, click & collect, and drive-in services. The implementation centered on SAP Commerce (formerly SAP Hybris) with full integration to back-end systems.

The solution synchronizes product assortment and promotions across all channels while connecting with the loyalty system to provide personalized experiences. Customers receive first basket suggestions and favorite product recommendations based on their combined in-store and online purchase history. The platform also allows convenient returns at the doorstep or directly to the car for drive-in customers.

Customer's benefit

The e-commerce solution has experienced consistently high demand since its October 2019 launch, establishing Rimi as the second-largest e-commerce platform in Latvia. The scalable architecture enabled rapid expansion to Lithuania and Estonia ahead of the original timeline, providing crucial support to society during COVID-19 lockdowns.

The integrated approach delivers true omnichannel experiences where customers enjoy consistent campaigns and personalized recommendations regardless of shopping method. The SAP Commerce foundation provides a robust platform for future growth and innovation in the competitive Baltic grocery market.
