Maske Gruppen implements complete ERP transformation
Maske Gruppen, a Norwegian supplier of consumer goods with over 150 years of history, transformed their business with a complete ERP overhaul by Pearl Group.

The company, with 250 employees and 828 MNOK turnover, needed to modernize operations and change company culture to support growth plans. Pearl delivered an integrated solution covering head office, warehouses, and stores using SAP Retail, SAP PI, SAP POS, QlikView, and Gurusoft. The transformation delivered remarkable results: improved performance by 45 MNOK and a turnaround from significant deficits to profitability, while streamlining the entire supply chain and enhancing customer satisfaction.
Challenge
Maske Gruppen wanted to replace their enterprise resource planning system with a modern, future-oriented solution that could support their growth ambitions. Beyond technology, the company recognized the need for cultural change and new working methods throughout the organization.
As a supplier competing in markets where many products are also available from competitors, Maske Gruppen needed to focus heavily on results and efficiency to differentiate themselves. They required a system that would give them tighter control over operations while improving overall business performance.
Solution
After an extensive partner selection process, Maske Gruppen chose Pearl Group to deliver a comprehensive ERP system covering their head office, warehouses, and retail locations. The integrated solution combined SAP Retail, SAP PI, SAP POS, QlikView, and Gurusoft to create a unified platform.
The system went live in April 2015, with Pearl Group taking responsibility for core operations, application management, and ongoing development. The implementation was designed to support both immediate operational needs and long-term strategic objectives.
Customer's benefits
The transformation delivered exceptional results that exceeded expectations. Maske Gruppen achieved complete control over their business operations while streamlining the entire supply chain from procurement through payment processing.
The impact on business performance was dramatic: the company improved results by 45 MNOK and successfully transitioned from significant deficits to healthy profitability. While staff efforts were crucial to this turnaround, the new business system played a significant role in enabling the transformation.
Customer service improvements led to higher customer satisfaction levels, supporting the company's competitive position in challenging markets where product differentiation often comes down to service quality and operational efficiency.
A successful project
The partnership between Maske Gruppen and Pearl Group proved highly effective at all organizational levels. "We are very satisfied with Pearl's solution and are also pleased with the cooperation we have had at all levels in Pearl, from senior management to consultants. They put in a lot of effort and gave us much help, so we think this project has been very successful," explains Per Gundersen, CEO of Maske Gruppen AS.
Pearl's deep industry understanding was crucial to the project's success. "When we set out to find a partner for our new business system, it was important to find a collaborator who understood our industry and knew it well. Quality is important for us, and we supply many products that competitors also supply, so we really had to think results and efficiency," Gundersen notes.
The project was delivered on schedule and within reasonable financial parameters, providing Maske Gruppen with confidence in their technology investment. "With Pearl as our partner, we see that we have a more efficient, higher-quality system giving us tighter control and improved results in the future," Gundersen concludes.
