LIONPRO, an international and rapidly growing company headquartered in Latvia, has selected SAP Cloud ERP (SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud) as its new ERP platform, with Pearl Latvia as implementation partner.
LIONPRO is a family‑owned European company and globally recognised supplier of high‑quality animal feed ingredients and customised agro‑product supply chain solutions, serving producers across more than 50 markets worldwide. With decades of industry expertise, the company promotes sustainable and ethical practices to make essential feed materials more accessible and support livestock nutrition and food security globally.
Following a structured evaluation of leading ERP solutions, SAP Cloud ERP and Microsoft Dynamics 365 were identified as the most suitable alternatives. The final decision was to go for SAP and this reflects LIONPRO’s long-term growth ambitions and need for a scalable, modern platform.
We asked Edgars Egle, COO at LIONPRO, about the background to the decision and what they aim to achieve with the project.
Why did you choose SAP and Pearl as partners?
As an international and rapidly growing company, we evaluated several ERP solutions capable of supporting our pace of development and operations across different markets. SAP Public Cloud and Microsoft Dynamics 365 were identified as the most suitable solutions.
The decision in favor of SAP was made based on several strategic considerations. First, SAP is a European developer with a strong position in the international market. Second, an important factor was SAP’s active presence in Latvia. The SAP Latvia team supported us from the very beginning of the project - organizing presentations, providing detailed consultations, and responding promptly to all questions. During the implementation process, SAP Latvia has also been easily accessible and actively involved, which is important to us for long-term cooperation.
Regarding the implementation partner, Pearl Latvia won the public procurement process, and we are pleased with this choice. Pearl's local team in Riga ensures seamless communication, change management and training in Latvian, which is essential for effective system adoption in our company. . In addition, the core of Pearl’s team consists of specialists with more than 15 years of experience working with SAP solutions and can help not only on technology and adoption, but also advise us on business processes, providing additional confidence in the quality and professionalism of the project.
What were the main reasons for deciding to digitalize and modernize your processes now?
The existing ERP system no longer met the needs of the company’s international growth. It had become too heavy and insufficiently flexible for dynamic operations across multiple markets. We faced limited development opportunities, insufficient implementation of innovation, and incomplete customer support.
Considering the company’s growth pace and strategic goals, a modern, scalable solution was required to enable more efficient process management, improve data quality, and ensure better transparency at group level.
What challenges do you hope to solve with this project?
With this project, we aim to implement a sustainable, cloud-based platform that allows integration with modern specialized tools and supports the company’s long-term development.
The primary benefits we plan to achieve:

- Full multi-currency support for international operations
- Automated settlements between group companies
- Efficient consolidation of financial data at group level
